Welcome to GitPocket. By downloading, installing, or using the GitPocket mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
Description of Service
GitPocket is a third-party mobile client for GitHub that allows you to browse repositories, manage gists, view releases, and interact with your GitHub account from your iOS device. GitPocket is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by GitHub, Inc.
The App provides access to GitHub's services through GitHub's official API. Your use of GitHub's services through the App is subject to GitHub's own Terms of Service and policies.
GitHub Account & Authentication
To use GitPocket, you must have a valid GitHub account. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security and confidentiality of your GitHub credentials
- All activities that occur under your GitHub account while using GitPocket
- Complying with GitHub's Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policies
GitPocket uses OAuth for authentication. Your GitHub password is never stored or transmitted to GitPocket. OAuth tokens are stored securely in iOS Keychain on your device.
Acceptable Use
When using GitPocket, you agree to:
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
- Comply with GitHub's Acceptable Use Policies (opens in new tab)
- Not use the App for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Not use the App to scrape, harvest, or collect data in violation of GitHub's Terms
- Not interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality or servers
Intellectual Property
GitPocket and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by GitPocket and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
The GitHub name, logo, and associated trademarks are the property of GitHub, Inc. GitPocket's use of these marks does not imply endorsement by or affiliation with GitHub, Inc.
AI Features
GitPocket may offer optional AI-powered features. When using these features:
- Bring Your Own Key (BYOK): You must provide your own API keys for AI services. GitPocket does not provide or manage these keys.
- Third-Party Providers: AI features may send data to third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or others) based on your configuration. You are responsible for reviewing and accepting those providers' terms of service and privacy policies.
- Apple Intelligence: Some AI features use on-device Apple Intelligence, which processes data locally on your device without sending it to external servers.
- Data Responsibility: You are responsible for any data you choose to send to AI providers through GitPocket's AI features.
Disclaimer of Warranties
GitPocket is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that:
- The App will be available at all times or without interruption
- The App will be error-free or that defects will be corrected
- The App will meet your specific requirements
- Data displayed through the App will always be accurate or up-to-date
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GitPocket and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:
- Your use or inability to use the App
- Any unauthorized access to or use of your data
- Any interruption or cessation of the App
- Any bugs, viruses, or other harmful code
- Any errors or omissions in content
- GitHub service outages or API changes
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Effective date" at the top of this page.
Your continued use of GitPocket after changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
